How hiring works
Steps, not days: the length of each depends on how quickly access and approvals arrive and how large the site is.
Share your site and goals
What the site sells, who it is for, where your buyers are, what has been tried.
Scoping call and audit sample
A short call to settle scope and the roles that fit, then real findings from your site before you commit.
Written proposal
Scope, roles, reporting, notice and exit terms set out in one document.
Access, tracking and first priorities
You grant access; we confirm Analytics, Search Console and conversion tracking work, agree the first set of changes and what needs your sign-off, then start.
The team behind the hire
55+ people across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi.
Your SEO expert sits inside a wider team of developers, designers and marketers, so technical fixes, content and design changes do not wait on a third party.
Awards and Recognition
You get a named specialist, or a small pod, who audits your site, makes the on-page, technical and content changes on it, builds links and local signals the careful way, and sends a monthly report in the first week of the month followed by a review of next month's priorities. Your Analytics, Search Console and site accounts stay in your name. Rates depend on scope and are quoted in writing; we do not publish price lists or promise rankings.
Engagement models
Four ways to hire an SEO resource in India
The right model depends on how much SEO work your site really has, who already owns parts of it, and how much of your own time you can give. No rate cards: rates depend on scope and are quoted in writing after a short scoping call.
Dedicated SEO expert
Steady, ongoing workOne named specialist on your site, with other roles pulled in when a task needs them. Suits larger catalogues, several service lines or regular content.
Part-time or shared resource
Smaller sitesA specialist covers your site alongside other work, on a scope agreed up front, with a clear list of what is in and out.
Audit and fix sprint
One-off, fixed scopeBefore a redesign or migration, after a traffic drop, or for a clean-up: an audit, agreed fixes made on the site, a change log and a hand-over.
Augment your in-house team
One missing skillA specialist works with your marketer or developers, inside your tools and review process, and leaves documentation your staff keep using.
| Model | Audit and priority list | Changes made on your site | Monthly report and review | Ongoing content and links | Watch for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dedicated expert | Full | Yes, with a change log | Yes | Yes | Agree in writing which tasks the expert owns and which need your approval |
| Shared resource | Sized to scope | Yes, within scope | Yes | Smaller volume | Slower turnaround on big pieces of work; the scope must be realistic |
| Audit and fix sprint | Full, documented | Agreed fixes only | Close-out report | Not included | Plan what happens after the sprint; one-off work does not replace ongoing work |
| Team augmentation | For the skill hired | Via your review process | Yes | If that is the skill hired | Needs one person on your side who can approve changes quickly |
Not sure which fits? Describe your site and goals on the form below; we would rather suggest a smaller engagement than sell a bigger one. For the whole programme run for you, see SEO services or our SEO company in India page.
Roles you can hire
Which SEO specialist do you actually need?
"SEO expert" is a loose title. The work splits into skills that rarely sit in one person. Hire the role your site is short of, or a small pod that covers several. The meters show where each role's time typically goes; they are illustrative, not a promise.

How the roles combine
Most sites start with a strategist plus a technical or on-page specialist. Link and local specialists join once the foundations are in place. A pod is two or three of these roles working from one shared audit, one priority list and one report.
- A named point of contact on the work
- Written audit and a prioritised list you can read
- A change log of every edit made to your site
- Monthly report in the first week, then a review of priorities
- Analytics, Search Console and site accounts that stay in your name
Need the site built or rebuilt too? See web development services, or hire WordPress, PHP or Ruby on Rails developers to sit beside your SEO resource.
Where your customers are
Your expert plans for wherever your buyers search, from your street to overseas
"In India" is where our team is. Where you need to rank is a strategy decision made per client. A clinic may need "near me" and local-pack visibility within a few kilometres; a manufacturer may sell across several states; a software company may want another country entirely. The audit and the research phase settle this, and the keyword universe, site structure, content plan and local signals follow from it.
- Hyperlocal: Business Profile, location pages, "near me" queries
- Your city, or a different city from the one you are in
- One state or several, with location pages where they earn their place
- Pan-India, with a single strong page set rather than thin city clones
- International: country and language targeting, hreflang only when relevant
- Mixed: more than one of the above at once, prioritised by business value
Search and AI answer engines both read your pages, so clear structure and honest answers help with either. For citations in AI-generated answers, see GEO and AIO services.

What your SEO expert works on
The work behind the title, from first audit to monthly report
The wheel is a map of activity, not a list of results. How much of each part your site needs comes out of the audit.
- Technical audit, then fixes made on your site
- Keyword, intent and competitor research
- Page-level optimisation and new content where gaps exist
- Careful link building, mentions and outreach
- Local signals, if you have physical locations
- Monitoring in Google and Bing, and a monthly report

Questions
FAQs
We do not publish rate cards. Cost depends on the size and condition of the site, how many roles are needed (strategy, technical, content, links, local), whether the work is ongoing or a one-off sprint, how competitive your market is, and whether paid tools are in scope. After a short scoping call we quote in writing, with scope and exclusions listed, so you can compare it like for like with any other offer.
A freelancer suits small, well-defined work. An agency resource suits you when you want several skills behind one person, continuity if someone is away, and shared documents such as the audit, change log and monthly report. Whichever you pick, apply the same checks: an audit sample first, accounts in your name, a report you can verify and a clear statement of what is not promised.
Yes, and we encourage it. After the scoping call you can speak to the specialist who would work on your site, ask the questions on this page, and look at a sample of audit findings before agreeing scope. If the fit is not right, we discuss a different role or model.
Choose dedicated when your site has steady SEO work: a large catalogue, several service lines or regular content. A shared or part-time resource usually fits smaller sites. The audit often settles it, and we would rather size the engagement to the work than sell more attention than your site needs.
Nobody can give an honest fixed date. Timelines depend on your site's condition and history, your competition, how quickly changes are approved and how search engines respond. What we can say is what happens each month: changes are made and logged, the report arrives in the first week, and priorities are reviewed. Early signs such as better crawling or growing impressions are reported as they appear, not sold as outcomes.
Yes. Page copy, titles, descriptions, redirects, speed fixes, internal links and structured data are changed on the site itself, whether it runs on WordPress, PHP or Ruby. We need CMS or code access and your approval process. Where a fix belongs to your platform vendor, we write it up so they can carry it out.
Neither. Our head office is in Navi Mumbai, with teams in Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi. Where you need to rank is a strategy decision: a few kilometres around your location, your city, another city, several states, all of India or a market overseas. The audit and research phase settle the geography, and the keyword plan, site structure and local signals follow from it.
Typical tools are Google Analytics, Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools, Screaming Frog, Semrush-class research tools and Looker Studio for reporting. The free ones live in your own accounts. Whether a paid subscription is covered in the quote or billed separately is stated in the written proposal.
More questions (6)
Access to your website CMS or code at a permission level you are comfortable with, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools if you use it, and Google Business Profile if you have locations. You also need one person who can approve changes. Accounts remain yours; we are added as users.
Scope, reporting, notice and exit terms are agreed in writing in the proposal. We do not quote them on a web page because they depend on the engagement model you choose. Read them before you sign, as with any provider, and ask us to explain any clause.
You do. Analytics, Search Console and site accounts are opened in your name, with our team added as users. Content written for your site and the monthly reports are yours to keep. If you move to another provider, we hand over the audit, task list and change log.
Yes. This is the augmentation model: the specialist works inside your review process and tools, writes tickets and briefs your developers can act on, and leaves documentation your staff keep using. One named person on your side who can approve changes quickly makes it work.
Yes. Many clients begin with a fixed-scope audit and a set of agreed fixes before deciding whether to continue. You receive the audit, the fixes made on the site, a change log and a hand-over you can use with or without us. Ongoing content and link work is a separate decision.
Through the monthly report and the review that follows it: organic traffic, rankings in context, impressions, clicks, click-through rate, organic conversions, landing-page and content performance, technical progress and backlink activity. Every figure is checkable in your own accounts. If something is not moving, the review is where we say so and change the plan.

Five phases from first access to a repeating monthly cycle
How the work runs
Behind these phases sits a longer working process: technical audit, keyword and entity research, competitor analysis, tracking set-up, indexing review, content and meta work, URL and image recommendations, sitemaps, header structure, link building, structured data, local SEO, outreach, monitoring and reporting. Phases overlap, and none has a fixed length.
- DiagnoseTechnical audit, Analytics, Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools set-up, conversion tracking, robots.txt, sitemap and indexing review.
- ResearchSearch, keyword and entity analysis, the questions people ask, and a competitor review of content, technical health and links.
- Build on-siteTitles, descriptions, headings, URLs, internal links, image and media work, new or merged pages, structured data, edited on the site.
- Earn authorityOutreach, guest contributions, digital PR, blogger outreach and, where it applies, local signals. Relevance over link count.
- Measure and reviewMonitoring in Google and Bing, a monthly report in the first week, and a review that sets next month's priorities.
Works on your site, whatever it runs on
On-page, technical, content, structured-data and performance changes are made directly on your site, whether it is built on WordPress, PHP or Ruby. We need CMS or code access for this. Where a fix belongs to a platform vendor, we write it up so they can act on it.
What the monthly report contains, and what you do with it
What the monthly report contains, and what you do with it
Reporting
Reporting is monthly. The report reaches you in the first week of each month, built in Looker Studio from your own Analytics and Search Console, and is followed by a review of next month's priorities with your team. Every figure should be one you can check in your own accounts.
In every monthly report
- Organic traffic and how it moved
- Keyword rankings, in context
- Impressions, clicks and click-through rate
- Organic conversions and landing-page performance
- Technical progress, content performance, backlink activity
- Proposed priorities for next month
What we need from you
- CMS or code access at a permission level you are comfortable with
- Google Analytics and Search Console, with you as owner and us as users; Bing Webmaster Tools if used
- Google Business Profile access, if you have locations
- One person who can approve changes, plus brand and tone notes
How to judge "best": a checklist that works on any candidate
How to judge "best": a checklist that works on any candidate
How to hire the best SEO expert in India
There is no honest league table of the best SEO expert in India. Test every candidate, freelancer, agency or us, against the same six checks. If someone cannot pass them, price and portfolio matter much less.
Audit sample before the contract
Real findings from your own site, ranked by importance. A generic checklist shows they will not look closely.
Stance on algorithm updates
Good answers are about pages that deserve to rank and diagnosing drops from data, not chasing each update. Our Google algorithm roundup is a fair test.
Link-building ethics
Where links come from, how each source is checked, what they refuse to do. Read link-building strategies that actually work first.
Reporting you can verify
Every number should be visible in your own Analytics or Search Console. Ask for a sample report and open it against your accounts.
Access and ownership
Analytics, Search Console, Business Profiles, hosting and content in your name from day one, with the expert added as a user.
Content process
Who researches, writes, reviews and publishes? Look for subject-matter review and a refusal to publish thin or copied pages.
Ten questions to put to any SEO expert before you hire
Ten questions to put to any SEO expert before you hire
Interview questions
Use these with a freelancer, an agency or us. A good answer is specific and mentions your site; a weak one is a slogan.
- What would you check on my site in the first week?Crawlability, indexing, templates, tracking and the pages that already earn visits, in a sensible order.
- Can I see a sample audit or report from similar work?Anonymised if it belongs to someone else, and you can follow its logic.
- What will you change yourself, and what goes to my developers?A clear boundary, which shows real implementation experience.
- How do you choose which keywords and pages to work on?Intent and business value, not just search volume.
- Where will links come from, and what do you refuse to do?Named kinds of source, relevance checks, a firm no to paid link networks.
- How do you react when traffic drops?Diagnosis from data: tracking, technical changes, content, competitors, updates.
- Who owns the accounts, content and reports if we part ways? You, in writing.
- Which tools do you use, and who pays for them?Paid subscriptions stated in the proposal as inside or outside scope.
- Who exactly will work on my site, and what if they leave?Cover arrangements and hand-over notes.
- How will I know it is working?Named measures (organic conversions, impressions, clicks, landing pages) and an honest line on what cannot be promised.

Red flags
A promised ranking or date
Nobody controls search results. Page one by a certain date is a sales line.
Bulk directory or article links
Hundreds of low-quality submissions add little and can attract attention you do not want.
Private blog networks
Links from networks built only to pass authority go against search engine guidelines.
No access to your analytics
If they will not work inside your accounts, or want to own them, you cannot check anything they say.
Freelancer, in-house hire or an agency resource: an honest comparison
Freelancer, in-house hire or an agency resource: an honest comparison
Which type of hire
Each can work. More filled dots mean more of that factor; the table applies whoever you choose.
| Factor | Freelancer | In-house hire | Agency resource (The Adroit) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Range of skills | Strong in one or two areas | One person's range, built over time | Specialists added for technical, content, links or local |
| Continuity if the person leaves | Work may stop with them | A gap while you recruit | Colleagues continue from the shared audit, change log and reports |
| Your management time | High: you brief and review everything | High: management and training load | Lower: structured priorities and reports; you still approve changes |
| Tools | Their own, or yours | You buy and manage them | Stated in the proposal as inside or outside scope |
| Cost shape | Varies by person and scope | Fixed payroll and overheads | Quoted for the scope and roles after a scoping call |
| Control | Close, personal | Highest: they sit in your team | Shared, with terms set out in writing |
| Best when | Small, well-defined jobs | SEO is core and constant | You want depth of skills without building a team |
